Signafide Assists Fair and Equal Michigan in LGBTQ Civil Rights Campaign

Fair and Equal Michigan turned to Signafide recently, for assistance with a challenge against the ruling of the Michigan Board of State Canvassers. In the sample off 502 signatures pulled from the total of over 460,000 that were submitted and accepted for verification, The Board found 337 were valid. This left the campaign 61 valid signatures short of the 398 needed for certification and 33 below the 370 necessary to force a new sample drawing. Although Signafide was able to find over 80 signatures that were potentially incorrectly invalidated, and provided ten exhibits with specific examples of inaccuracies, The Board upheld its decision on July 26. Fair and Equal Michigan plans on filing a challenge in the Michigan Court of Appeals sometime within the next five to ten days. Find out more about the initial rulings over at The Detroit News and read about the plan to appeal at Detroit Free Press.
